Australian Customs and Quarantine Information
Customs
All goods entering Australia are subject to customs duty, however a general duty-free allowance is available to travellers. The Australian Customs Service (ACS) administers the regulations and is the correct authority to answer specific questions on these matters.
Quarantine
Australia has strict Quarantine regulations to prevent entry of diseases, common in other parts of the world, but which would endanger Australia's rare plants and animals. Travellers must declare items of plant or animal origin when entering Australia. Many items may be admitted, some may be inspected and some may be taken for destruction. Please check before you travel about which items cannot be taken to Australia. Detailed and up-to-date information is provided for you on the AQIS website.
