About ACIO
The ACIO represents the interests of Australia and Australians in Taiwan. The Office comprises approximately sixty employees – including Australia-based and locally employed staff, headed by the Representative (Alice Cawte). The make-up of the Office reflects the multi-faceted nature of the Australia-Taiwan relationship. Housed in the The President International Tower in Taipei, the office includes the Australian Business Centre, Australian Education International, Australian Visa Services, a Consular & Administrative Section, a Media and Culture Unit, and staff handling economic and trade policy affairs.

Alice Cawte is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). She has held various positions in Canberra, in both DFAT and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. She was Assistant Secretary, East Asia Branch, DFAT from 2005 to 2008. She has served overseas in Beijing and in Noumea and studied Chinese in Taiwan.
Ms Cawte holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Sydney. She is married with two children.
