Working Holiday Visa
Most applicants, including Taiwan passport holders, can apply for a Working Holiday visa online at Online Applications - Working Holiday visas.
For detailed information on the Working Holiday program, please see Working Holiday Makers on the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the grant of a first Working Holiday visa, you must:
• Be aged between 18 and 30 years of age at time of application. This means that you must not have turned 31 when you apply;
• Hold a valid Taiwan passport (or another passport that is included in the Working Holiday program);
• Not be accompanied by any children;
• Be outside Australia at time of application and grant, and
• Be able to meet Australia’s health and character requirements for temporary visa applicants.
VISA CONDITIONS
• You can work throughout your stay but you can only work in the same job for up to 6 months while holding a Working Holiday visa. However, any work you undertake in Australia should be incidental to your holiday.
• Limited study is permitted whilst you hold a Working Holiday visa. However, it is a condition of your visa that you must not engage in any studies for more than 4 months.
VISA VALIDITY
An initial Working Holiday visa gives you 12 months to travel to Australia from the date the visa is granted. You are permitted to remain in Australia for 12 months from the date you first enter Australia. If you undertake "specified work" in regional Australia for a minimum of three months (88 days) while holding your first Working Holiday visa, you will be eligible to apply for a second Working Holiday visa. This will enable you to stay in Australia for a further 12 months.
