    Migration to Australia

Detailed information about migration to Australia, including eligibility and application procedures, is available on the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship website. See: Migrants.

    Family Migration

There are a number of migration options for fiance(e)s, partners, children, parents and other family members of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens.

Partner Migration: Migrating as a Spouse/Fiance(e)

If you wish to migrate to Australia based on your relationship with an Australian citizen or permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen then you should consider your eligibility for a Partner migration visa.

A partner includes:

Spouse - your husband, wife or de facto partner.

Prospective spouse (fiance) - you must have met your sponsor and intend to marry him/her in Australia.

Interdependent partner - mostly refers to same-sex couples. You and your sponsor must be 18 years of age and have a genuine and ongoing relationship and plan to live together in Australia.

A checklist has been developed to assist you in preparing a Partner visa application that is to be processed at Australian Visa Services in Taipei. See: Partner Migration Visa Application Checklist.

You should also read the detailed information contained in Booklet 1, Partner Migration. This booklet is available to download (free of charge) from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website in Australia. See: Partner Migration, Booklet 1.

Migrating as a Child

Migrating as a Parent

If you are the Parent of an Australian citizen or permanent resident or eligible New Zealand Citizen then you may qualify for Parent Migration.

All Parent migration visa applications from parents who are outside of Australia (for example, in Taiwan) are lodged at a specialised processing centre in Perth, Western Australia. See: Perth Offshore Parents Centre.

Other family migration

If you wish to migrate as a Carer,  Aged Dependent Relative or Remaining Relative of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen relative, you will need to consider your eligibility for Other Family Migration.

If you wish to apply for Other Family Migration, you should read the detailed information contained in Booklet 4, Other Family Migration. This booklet is available to download (free of charge) from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website in Australia. See: Other Family Migration, Booklet 4.

    Skilled/Business Migration

Migrating as a Professional or Skilled Worker

All visa applications from professionals or other skilled migrants who are not sponsored by an employer must be lodged at a specialised processing centre in Adelaide, South Australia. See: Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre.

Detailed information about migrating as a professional or skilled worker under Australia's General Skilled Migration program can be found on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website. See: General Skilled Migration.

Business Skills applications from Taiwan residents are processed at Australian Visa Services (AVS) in Taipei. AVS is one of three centres of excellence for the overseas Business Skills program.
