Business (Short Stay) Visas
If you wish to visit Australia for business purposes and you are not eligible for an Electronic Travel Authority (see ETA eligible passports), or do not wish to apply for an ETA, you will need to apply for a Business (Short Stay) visa at Australian Visa Services (AVS) in Taipei.
The information below is designed to assist you to prepare an application that will be lodged at AVS.
This visa allows you to make a short business trip to Australia to attend a conference, a training session, business meetings, or conduct exploratory business visits.
Note: You are not able to work in Australia on this visa, except in very limited circumstances (ie, the work is temporary, short term and highly specialised). If your main reason for visiting Australia is to work, you may wish to consider applying for a Business (Long Stay) visa.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
(1) Taiwan Passport holders: Valid passport for each person included in the application if lodged in person. If lodged by mail provide a certified copy of passport.If you are not a Taiwan passport holders, and do not hold an ETA eligible passport, you should provide a valid passport with application
(2) Completed and signed application form (Form 456);
(3) 1 recent passport photo;
(4) Visa application charge. Payment of the visa application charge must be in New Taiwan dollars. Australian Visa Services does not accept payment in Australian Dollars. For the current amount and payment methods see Fees;
(5) Proposed travel itinerary (or copy of airline ticket if available);
(6) Statement from current employer containing current job title, job description and salary. This letter should also outline the period and purpose of your business trip to Australia;
(7) Evidence of business activities in Australia (letter of invitation from Australian organisation, conference registration details, training details etc);
(8) Original and one photo copy of Taiwan ID card or Alien Residence Card (ARC);
(9) Travel industry employees, such as tour leaders or guides, must provide a copy of their current tour leader certificate. Free-lance tour leaders should also provide a letter from the company (or companies) for which they are leading tour groups to Australia;
(10) Applicants over 75 years of age must provide evidence of adequate overseas health insurance cover for the period of intended stay in Australia.
(11) If you are required to undergo a medical examination you will be sent a letter requesting you to go to our panel doctor. You must take this letter with you to the doctor as the HAP ID contained in the letter is needed for your medical examination. Depending on your circumstances, you may also be requested to provide other documents to assist in the assessment of your application. Your case officer will advise you if any of these documents are required.
AVERAGE PROCESSING TIME
Ten working days. If you are required to undergo a medical examination, the average processing time will longer.
VISA VALIDITY
Up to 5 years validity with single or multiple entries permitted, and a stay of up to three months on each entry.
