Visiting Australia
Do I Need a Visa to Visit Australia?
Yes. Unless you are an Australian citizen, you will need a visa to enter Australia.
However, eligible passport holders can apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) over the Internet. Taiwan passport holders should apply for an ETA through one of a number of approved ETA agents.
There are three types of ETA: one for Tourism purposes and two for Business Visitors. For more information about applying for an ETA, see Electronic Travel Authorities.
Holders of passports other than ETA eligible passports must make an application for an appropriate visa. If you are resident in Taiwan, this visa application should be lodged at Australian Visa Services in Taipei. Which visa you should apply for will depend on the purpose of your proposed travel to Australia.
If you are travelling for tourism, see: Tourist Visitor Visa.
If you are travelling for business, see: Business Visitor Visa.
Important: If you are an Australian citizen travelling to Australia, you must travel on your Australian passport. It is not possible to grant an Australian visa to an Australian citizen, even if it is linked to another passport. If you are an Australian citizen and do not hold an Australian passport you will need to apply for one at the Australian Commerce and Industry Office (ACIO). See: Passports.
